The world's top researchers collaborate to develop smart clothing

The 10th International Conference on Textile Bioengineering and Information, jointly organized by Wuhan Textile University and Textile Bioengineering and Information Society, was held in Wuhan from 16th to 19th. Academician Yao Mu of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and more than 230 world-renowned experts and scholars from China, France, the United States, Canada, Australia, etc. gathered to discuss the latest textile bioengineering technologies and project achievements.

Wang Qian, a professor of the National Thousand Talents Program and a professor of Wuhan Textile University, said that textile biomaterials and their applications are important research directions for Wufang. At present, a series of researches have been carried out on artificial blood vessels, artificial skin and artificial bones. Wuhan Union Medical College Hospital, Nanjing First People's Hospital and other hospitals have carried out extensive cooperation and obtained more than 40 national invention patents.

Professor Li Yi, the chairman of the conference and the Textiles Division of the School of Materials Science at the Manchester Institute of Science and Engineering, said that global researchers will work together to combine materials, medical, electronics and other disciplines to solve human biomedical needs through textile materials. "Future smart clothing can be used as a 24-hour monitoring of our health by fitting sensors into the clothes, and then open the data to the medical institutions to achieve supervision, diagnosis and treatment integration."
