In the spring of 2016, Vans partnered with Cassantini to launch a series of collaborations including women's Clothing, accessories and surfing shoes. The series uses black and white as the main colors to create a feeling of urban summer, suitable for the beach and the streets. In 2008, artist/designer Alexandra Cassantini established the Summer Bummer brand. The brand is inspired by her life experiences on two shores in Hawaii and Southern California, as well as her many years of experience in the fashion industry, to launch a series of apparel and accessories. As a designer, Cassantini has a passion for the ocean and always pays attention to and promotes the sustainable wearability of the products he creates.
In the collaboration series between Vans and Summer Bummer, Cassiantini designed a series of black-and-white monochrome accessories, including vests, zipper long Tee shirts, Logo caps and drawstring buckets. In terms of footwear, echoing with the theme, Cassantini designed five Vans Surf Sider shoes for beach and street wear to match Summer Bummer's urban summer style.
Consistent with the DIY aesthetic that Vans has been advocating, Cassantini added Summer Bummer to the classic Slip-On SF and Sk8-Hi shoes. In order to adapt to the beach, slippers and strappy sandals will be introduced.
